THE CHAN CHIEW PING FUND
The Chan Chiew Ping Fund is dedicated to the memory of the late Madam Chan Chiew Ping and her spirit of humanity and courage.
Madam Chan came to Singapore from Taiping, Malaysia after the Second World War. She grew up in an era when most Asian girls did not have the privilege of a formal education. She is remembered for her dedication and devotion to her family, her life-long zeal for living and learning and her helpfulness to those around her. Madam Chan learnt to speak Mandarin by listening to the news on the radio. In her later years, she attended English, gu-zheng and cookery classes at her local community centre until she succumbed to lung cancer in 2005 at the age of 76.
The Chan Chiew Ping Fund offers sponsorship in the following main areas.
In education, the Fund helps bright young women from Singapore and other ASEAN countries realise their potential by providing financial assistance for their studies in Singapore – our sponsorship is in the form of bursaries offered through the polytechnics and the Institute of Technical Education.
In the medical field, the Fund has funded lung cancer research and subsidised drug treatment for lung cancer patients.
The family of the late Madam Chan is the principal sponsor of this Fund.
LIVES WE HAVE TOUCHED

“The bursary has not only helped me financially but has also encouraged me to continue striving towards my aspirations in nursing and serving the community.” - Sufi Dariah Binte Mohd Zaheer
I am currently in Year 3 pursuing a Higher Nitec in Nursing at College East. I was homeschooled before entering ITE and come from a single-parent, low-income family. When I first started at ITE, I had to work part-time to help support my education and pay for my school-related expenses. Balancing work and studies were challenging, but I remained determined to pursue my education and build a better future for myself.
Being awarded the Chan Chiew Ping Bursary gave me much-needed financial support and eased some of the financial burden on my family. With the bursary, I was able to obtain the resources I needed for my studies and created a better environment to focus on learning. This allowed me to stay more focused and to study effectively to achieve my goals.
I am very grateful to Trailblazer Foundation for believing in and supporting students like me. The bursary has not only helped me financially but has also encouraged me to continue striving towards my aspirations in nursing and serving the community.

As there are scarce theatre building companies in Singapore, my dream would be to create a secure business that caters to building set, staging and props for both the experienced and inexperienced, ranging from film to theatre productions.
